NATUS

Natus is an Artists Collective that have opened a Cafe/ Studio space in Nanjing, China. Along with the Collective, all the products within the cafe are 100% vegan and or vegetarian. With this, the concept for the cafe was to use the idea of birth/ rebirth. Which is evident in its name 'NATUS' meaning 'to be born' in Latin. The relevance and use of Latin in this branding is to highlight the global union of linguistics that Latin intrinsically holds - Therefore, by using a Latin name within China, not only are we opening up to conversations about Euro-Chinese cultural relations, but also it would be a unique in contrast to the Chinese Market. Symbolically, the use of the coffee bean, is somewhat embryonic as an icon, which lends itself to this idea of birth.
